My Spending Problem

Those of you who know me in real life think that I am frugal. Miserly, even (although I try very hard not to be).

What you may not know is that I have a serious shopping weakness.

Organic vegetables.

For some reason this tendency only surfaces when I am alone with Agent 004.

The last time we went out together (for a doctor's appointment), we came home with organic brussel sprouts. The time before that it was a peck of local apples. Today it was spelt and quinoa from the natural foods store.

Anyone know how to cook quiona? Have any good spelt recipes?

That's so timely! :) I fixed quinoa yesterday - in my rice maker. It's wonderful. Easy. I ate a bowl of it like oatmeal, with cinnamon, raisins and milk. Made a tiny salad with onions, carrots and celery. If you don't have a rice steamer, I think it's 1 part q to 2 parts water and bring to a boil, simmer until of the right consistency.
There are tons of recipes online - don't forget to rinse it well unless the package indicates it has been pre-rinsed.

Mmmm..I love quinoa, but my family doesn't. My fave way to eat it used to be stuffing zucchini or
portobellos. This is why Dave does the shopping now. ;-)

Have you come up with any ideas for the quinoa? I've got some, too, but haven't tried it out yet...
